GOP senators warn confidence in Hegseth eroding as Iran war drags on
I don’t have any confidence in him anymore. I think he’s all over the place — he’s accelerating the retirement or forcing out some of the most distinguished leaders in the DOD that we have,” Sen. Thom
Senate Republicans are losing confidence in Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth as the Iran war drags on, oil prices soar, and key sea lanes like the Strait of Hormuz and the Red Sea remain threatened.
GOP senators fault him for poor planning, high costs, and forcing out senior commanders, warning that support for more war funding and Trump’s strategy is eroding without a clear endgame.
“I don’t have any confidence in him anymore. I think he’s all over the place — he’s accelerating the retirement or forcing out some of the most distinguished leaders in the DOD that we have,” Sen. Thom Tillis (R-N.C.) told The Hill, referring to the Department of Defense (DOD).
